Chemical peels are performed to accelerate skin exfoliation, resulting in renewed, healthier looking skin and more uniform complexion. Chemical peels address the visible imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and texture. Peels also address skin tone, unevenness that can be caused by scarring or pigment changes.  Chemical peels may also treat and even prevent acne.

Chemical peels are a type of exfoliating treatment.  Exfoliation is removing dead skin, debris, and pore-clogging materials from the surface of the skin to reveal newer, brighter skin underneath.  Acids used in chemical peels work to improve skin by removing the top layers and weakening the lipids that bond them together.  The result is removal of dull and dead skin cells and revealing healthy skin.

For optimal results after your peel, your skin regimen should include a sensitive skin cleanser, moisturizer appropriate for your skin type and sunscreen broad spectrum SPF 30+.  Limit sun exposure for one week after treatment due to increased photosensitivity.  Skin may appear discolored and tight immediately after treatment. Mild redness and peeling is expected.
